Kate de Freitas

Kate de Freitas couldn’t decide between going to drama school and going to art school, so she decided to do both. She has worked as an actress in musical theatre and television. She has written comedy sketch shows and performed internationally as a jazz singer with her band ‘Kate de Freitas & The Babacools’. Kate has also written and performs her own puppet show, Hullabaloo Puppets, across the UK at festivals, weekly classes and private parties. Being Welsh, it is not a surprise that Kate loves writing and performing poetry which you can find on her social media pages links below

Kate de Freitas grew up loving stories, being read to, drawing and making up plays. She was always travelling to made up countries and even invented languages for them. (She tried to write a dictionary for one of them aged 9 but understandably gave up!)

When asked at school what she wanted to do when she left she answered. “ I can’t decide between becoming an actress, artist or writer or making toys.”  Now she does all of them..

Kate works as an actress, writer, drama teacher and sings with her jazz band Kate de Freitas & The Babacools for which she has written many of the songs. She has also written most of the Hullabaloo songs herself.
